2022 Valencia Marathon Champion Kelvin Kiptum is this year's London Marathon champion.

Kiptum cut the tape in a time of 2:01:26 to record the second fastest time in a marathon.

The 23-year old set a new course record for London set by Eliud Kipchoge in 2019 by over a minute.

He was just 16 seconds outside Kipchoge's world record.

In December last year, Kiptum posted the third fastest time of 2:01:53 in his marathon debut.

Geofrey Kamworor  who has won the New York marathon twice was runner up for a second consecutive time in London.

Britain's Mo Farah finished ninth in what he says will be his last marathon.

On the other hand, Sifa Hassan, who was making her debut in London,  clinched victory in the women marathon.

Hassan is a double Olympic champion having bagged both the 10,000m and 5,000m titles in Tokyo.

Kenya's Peres Jepchirchir finished third in her debut in London Marathon.

Jepchirchir  who is the Tokyo Olympic marathon champion is also the 2021 New York Marathon winner as well as the 2022 Boston Marathon champion.
