Singer Ray C expecting her first Child

Tanzanian singer Rehema Chalamila aka Ray C has broken her silence after a section of Kenyans made her a trending topic On Twitter.

For the better part of this week, the France-based retired singer has been making headlines after Netizens opted to compare her to Zuchu, Vanessa Mdee, and Lady Jaydee.

This is after the Wanjiku Report launched a comparison between the four singers. They questioned their followers to pick their favorite star from the list hence eliciting an endless discussion.

Many who joined the conversation had varying views- others castigating the platform with the comparison.

A section pointed out that Zuchu can't be compared to Ray C, Vanessa Mdee, and Lady Jaydee because she is from a different Era, and doing so will be disrespectful to those who paved the way for her.

The discussion got Ray C’s attention and she penned an appreciation message to her fans for always vibing with her music despite being inactive in the industry for years now.

“To my Kenyan fans all over the world………..Nawapenda sana...Thank You all for the love and support.❤️🙏🏾,” Ray C shared.

Ray C is among the most loved East African musicians and a few months ago she joined the motherhood institution after welcoming a bouncing baby boy.

Drug addiction

Ray C, the one-time undisputed queen of Bongo flava shelved her music career after moving to the UK.

In 2018, she later introduced her boyfriend to the public- it is not year clear if the two are still an item.

She fought drug addiction that ruined her flourishing musical career for almost a decade.

She was taken to rehab by former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete. Thereafter she worked on a comeback in the music industry but she did not manage to reclaim her lost glory.

She released a solo project titled "Unanimaliza" and a collaboration dubbed "Najiuliza" with fellow Tanzanian musician Chege and Kenyan singer Sanaipei Tande before relocating to Paris, France.
