Kevin Wekesa and Brian Tanga of the Kenya National Sevens team have been included in the London 7s HSBC Dream Team for their exploits in the recently concluded London 7s.

The two were influential when Shujaa faced Canada, Uruguay and Tanga in a do-or-die task aiming to avoid relegation.

Wekesa recorded six tries in Shujaa's first two wins, against Canada (24-19) and Tanga (38-26) on Saturday.

For his brilliance in both matches, the Kabras RFC player was named top on the DHL Impact Players chart with three breaks, one offload, five carries and one tackle.

Tanga was a constant player in the Kenyan side that was fighting relegation and performed exemplary in his playmaking role distributing balls and making crucial runs.

Shujaa suffered relegation after maintaining core status at the World Series for over two decades after a 12-7 defeat to Canada in the playoff final.

Other names that made the seven players list include; Argentina's duo of  Agustin Fraga and Rodrigo Isgro, New Zealand's pair of Regan Ware and Akuila Rokolisoa and Manueli Maisamoa of Fiji.

New Zealand's sensation Akuila Rokolisoa scooped the London 7s Impact Player Award in the series won by Argentina(Los Pumas7).

The 'Dream Team' is a collection of seven players competing in a series on a specific weekend as voted by fans. 

New Zealand finished top of the pile in the 2023 HSBC Sevens campaign after accruing 200 points. Shujaa finished in 13th with 40 points.
