The much anticipated Shoke Shoke festival that was to be held on the second Saturday of September (9/09/2023) has sadly been canceled.
In a lengthy press release issued by Shoke Shoke's management the team went on to site financial strains as the main reason for cancellation... guess someone didn't do their math correctly.
"To our esteemed Shoke Shoke Community, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Shoke Shoke Festival scheduled for September 9th at the Uhuru Gardens due to unmet financial obligations. We understand the disappointment this may bring, and we genuinely apologize for the inconvenience caused," starts off the lengthy post bearing disappointing news for hundreds of partygoers who were looking forward to the event.
"Our unwavering commitment and dedication were impeded by logistical and operational challenges which makes it impossible to ensure a high-quality experience that you all deserve.
Moreover, the current state of the economy has presented significant hurdles that have impacted our investors and sponsors' ability to support the festival as initially planned," the post went on to read.
Touching on the topic of refunds as a significant number of people had already purchased tickets, the festival's team went on to highlight they wouldn't be able to do a refund immediately as they had already spent part of that money to compensate artists who were scheduled to perform.
They urged fans to be patient with them as they figured out the whole process, promising everyone who had purchased a ticket would eventually get their money back.
'We understand that many of you have already purchased tickets for this year's festival. We deeply appreciate your support. as these ticket sales directly contribute to making the festival the incredible experience it is
A significant portion of the refunds from ticket sales had already been allocated to compensate our talented artists and performers who were set to grace the stage.
While we would love to provide immediate refunds. we want to be transparent about our current financial situation, as these tunas were deployed to support the artists who were an integral part of the festival lineup
Our team is actively working to secure the necessary additional funds to process the refunds as soon as possible and we anticipate that the refunds will be processed within the next 45 to 60 days.
"We understand that waiting for a refund can be frustrating. and we request for and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time," part of their statement read.
Finishing up they maintained they were going back to the drawing board and would come back bigger and better.
"This being said as a brand and the team at Shoke Shoke we are taking time to regroup reflect and strategize for the future...
