Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has said the Form One placement exercise will start Monday, November 27.

Machogu said the placement exercise will take place for two weeks.

"Form One placement will start Monday for two weeks to allow parents time to plan for admissions," the CS said.

He spoke on Thursday at Mtihani house where he released the 2023 KCPE results.

Machogu said this year the top student scored 428 marks. Further, he said only two candidates were involved in exam malpractices.

" One had a note while the other a mobile phone," he said.

The CS said 8523 candidates got 400 marks and above compared to last year where 9443 candidates got above 400.

He said learners who scored between 300 and 399 represented 24.94 per cent of the total candidature population.

This was 352,782 learners while the number was 307,756 candidates in 2022.

Machogu said 658,278 learners scored between 200 and 299 marks.

Between 100 and 199 marks there were 383,025 candidates. While between 1 mark and 99 marks, there were 2060 candidates.

9354 candidates failed to sit KCPE 2023.

Machogu said they will get a second chance in January.
