Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has finally released the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

The top candidate in this year’s KCPE scored 428 marks out of the possible 500 marks

"400 to 500 marks the number was 8,525 candidates which translates to a percentage of 0.60," he said.

Those who scored between 300 to 399 marks were 352,782 which was a 24.29%

"200 to 299 marks, the candidates who were in that category were 658,278, which was 48.49%," Machogu said.

Parents, guardians, and student who sat for the 2023 KCPE Examination can check their results via the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) portal and Via SMS services.

Here are the steps to check the 2023 KCPE results:

Checking 2023 KCPE Results Online

- Visit the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) portal.

- Click on the KCPE Results tab.

- Select the year of the exam (2023).

- Enter your Index number.

- Press the Submit button.

Your results will be displayed after a short moment.

Checking 2023 KCPE Results via SMS

- Send an SMS with your Index Number to 40054.

- Ensure the message format is: IndexNumberKCPE (without spaces and with “KCPE” in capital letters).

- This service is available on Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom networks. Each SMS costs Sh.25.

Additional Methods

- Visit your previous primary school a day after the official result announcement.

- Download the entire school’s outcome at the KNEC Portal.

This year's exams attracted 1,406,557 million candidates.

The 2023 cohort was the last to sit the KCPE exams as the ministry works on phasing out the 8-4-4 curriculum.
