Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has yet again found himself at the centre of a violent confrontation after his vehicle was pelted with stones on Saturday.

The back window of the MP's vehicle was destroyed during the violent confrontation.

Speaking after the incident, the MP said his political nemesis had deployed a group of rowdy youths to block him from attending a burial.

He blamed a politician from Kakamega for his woes saying "he was harangued by the bitter truth" he told him at a past function.

"I told him the truth days ago and because he knew I would come to the burial and be treated to a warm welcome, he staged youths to block me," he said.

"That is using youths for the wrong purpose. They have now destroyed this vehicle."

The MP vowed to soldier on saying he would not be cowed by the violence meted against him.

"I am a protected leader. Let no one endanger the lives of the youth. What if they attacked me and my security team acted in defence?" he posed.

The MP was among the high-profile leaders who graced the funeral of the ODM league member and former nominated senator Godliver Omondi at Bulimbo in Matungu on Saturday.

Omondi, at the time of her death, was ODM nominated MCA at Kakamega County Assembly.

ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Former Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Senator Boni Khalwale and several other local leaders from the county graced the function.
