President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua are leading Kenyans in marking Kenya’s 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
The President arrived at around 9.50 am at the venue.
He was accompanied by the First Lady Mama Rachael Ruto who were warmly welcomed at the Uhuru Gardens.
The President who donned a black suit took the podium after inspecting a guard of honour.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua arrived shortly after 9.20 am.
The DP was accompanied by his spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi for the event.
The two were dressed elegantly with Gachagua donning a suit and yellow tie.
Pastor Dorcas was dressed in a beautiful yellow dress.
They were received by the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
This will mark his second Jamhuri Day since he assumed office in 2022.
Jamhuri is the Swahili word for "republic" and the holiday officially marks the date when Kenya became an independent country on 12 December 1963.
