Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has offered to help former boxer Conjestina Achieng after going back to her old ways.
In an update, Sonko mentioned that Conje has been re-admitted to the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Centre.
Sonko disclosed that this is the last chance he is giving the former boxer after being disappointed by her severally.
“Even though our chances in Conjestina's healing journey were watered down, I'm a person who doesn't give up in life. It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case.
“I just want to let the public know that she was readmitted at the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Centre where she will start her treatment afresh under the care of a group of specialists, including councillors, consultants, and physiatrists,” Sonko said.
He went on to thank the management at Mombasa Women's Hospital for always being welcoming whenever he needed their help.
“My special thanks go to the Mombasa Women's Hospital management led by the chief administrator, Hon. Amina Abdalla for accepting us back to the facility. Mungu mbele,” Mike Sonko shared.
Last week, Sonko was forced to defend himself over reports that he had neglected Conjestina despite promising her a job.
It all started after journalist Carol Radull visited her in the village – reporting that her condition was deteriorating again.
Sonko produced an audio recording that proved that Conje was taken away from him by her son and relatives but failed to return him to Nairobi as earlier agreed.
"Fortunately, my heart is bigger than myself. At times, I fail to control it for the love I have for the people, especially the less fortunate, and I think this is the reason I initially gave Conjee the first, second, and now maybe I will be forced to give a third and final chance again coz I'm always serious with all the cases we undertake and since we always document and account for the progress of all our sensitive cases," Sonko said.
Conjestina discharged from Rehab in 2023
In June 2023, Conjestina was discharged from Rehab and given a job by Mike Sonko.
Sonko announced that he had employed Conje as the gym instructor and head security at Salama Bling Beach Resort, Kanamai.
The former County Boss also mentioned that Conje will be working at the facility together with her son, sister, and coach.
“Conje will be the gym instructor and head security at Salama Bling Beach Resort, Kanamai. Together with her sister, coach, and son, we inspected the hotel where she'll be working and they all agreed. She will now be making a living inorder to support her family, lakini tumeelewana nawao kwamba Siaya hatarudi tena atakuwa anaenda kusalimie under supervision na kurudi,” Mike Sonko said.
