Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati has been the talk of town after he officially launched his Netflix reality show yesterday at Westwood Hotel in Westlands.

It was undoubtedly one of Kenya’s biggest fashion nights on the reality show’s red carpet.

Kenyan celebrities showed up and showed out including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who rocked a dashing tuxedo to the event.

Early life and education

Bahati was born on 22nd December 1994. His parents died when he was young, so he sought shelter at ABC orphanage in Mathare slums.

He went to Nakheel High School in Ongata Rongai Kajiado and later joined Eastleigh Boys’ High School. The reasons for his transfer are not known. He sat for his KCSE in 2011 and scored a C+. It was in 2012 that he decided to pursue his music career.

Marriage and relationship

Bahati got married in October 2017 to Diana Marua. The two held a traditional wedding. However, he held on to the news until after the ceremony and only shared the news with his fans.

“It is official. Thank You, Jesus. She is lawfully mine, now let the babies come,” Bahati said.

Before Bahati met with Diana, he dated Yvette Obura back in 2016 and they had a kid together called Mueni Bahati. However, the two later on broke up under unclear circumstances and that was when Diana came into the picture.

Career

Before fully concentrating on music in 2012, Bahati had earlier shown interest in music while he was still schooling.

After high school, he pursued his career, hoping that it would get him out of poverty and faithful to his ambition, it did.

He teamed up with J Blessing and recorded his first song “Siku Ya Kwanza”. After that followed “Mama”, which was greatly received by the audience and the gospel industry.

Later on, Bahati decided to divert his path and venture into secular music which according to him those kind of music are highly accepted by the audience compared to gospel music.

In 2022 Bahati joined politics where he vied to be an MP at Mathare through the Jubilee party ticket but unfortunately, he failed to secure the seat.

Despite of his failure, he kept on pushing and venturing into other things that were beneficial to him.

Yesterday Bahati and his wife Diana Marua finally launched their reality show in partnership with Netflix being the first Kenyan family to launch a reality show with Netflix.

Bahati has won several awards as a gospel artiste, he is now married to Diana Marua and together they have three kids.

He is also the after to Mueni Bahati a child he sired with Yvonne Obura.

He also has an adopted son called Morgan Bahati. 

In 2022 he vied for the Mathare Parliamentary seat but was not successful.

He becomes the first Kenyan Family to have a Reality TV show on Netflix.

Bahati is arguably one of the richest musicians with high end cars and a beautiful mansion for his family.
