A woman said to be the mother-in-law of a suspected serial killer has said her daughter went silent in 2022.

The suspected killer was unveiled by DCI on Monday during which the DCI said he allegedly confessed to killing his wife first before embarking on murdering 41 other women.

"The suspect alleged that the first victim was his wife whom he strangled to death before he dismembered and disposed of the body at the Kware site," Amin said.

The woman said her daughter, alleged to have been married to the victim, used to chat with others via WhatsApp before 2022.

"Wakati ilifika 2022, account yake ikanyamaza (Come 2022, her account went silent)," she said.

Speaking to the media,  the mother said since then, she has not heard from her daughter.

"Ndio nimesikia leo ripoti ati aliuwawa (I've received a report today that she was killed)," she added.

Addressing the press at DCI headquarters, Amin said the suspect led officers to his single room in Kware located 100m from the quarry.

"This is where he told us what he has been doing to the victims," Amin said.

His pursuit and subsequent arrest followed a very thorough forensic analysis of a mobile phone that belonged to one of the victims where some mobile money transactions were conducted on the very day she went missing.

According to Amin, several items have been recovered in his procession including 24 sim cards, eight smartphones, two feature phones, one laptop and one hard drive.

Two flash drives and a memory card, one machete, which detectives believe was being used to dismember the victims, and 12 nylon sacks similar to the ones that were used to stuff the bodies were also recovered.

Also recovered were a pair of industrial rubber gloves, six ID cards for men and two ID cards for women, one pink female handbag, two pink female panties, five rolls of cannabis sativa, and four clear sellotapes.

Amin said after interrogation, it was revealed that the suspect had allegedly killed  42 women and disposed of their bodies in the dumpsite in a span of two years.
