During the opening ceremony of the Olympics 2024 in France the advert which was presented brought a lot of controversy after it was perceived to mock Christianity.

The advert involved mockery of the last supper which Jesus had with his disciples but in this case it showcased the vibrant and influential role of the LGBTQ+ community in France.

C Spire from the Telecommunications Company pulled down all the adverts saying he can't entertain such kind of mockery towards Christianity.

"We were shocked by the mockery of the last supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics," he wrote on X.

Apart from C Spire, French lawmaker Marion Marechal and Tesla CEO Elon Musk decried the mockery of the Last Supper as netizens threatened to boycott Olympics 2024 in Paris.

Netizens seemed to be very agitated by the act most of them saying they hope more companies will join in and pull down such kind of adverts.

Also some tried to analyze the scene saying that it wasn't intentional to offend Christianity, explaining that the lady who was at the middle symbolizes the god of fertility and the rest have other different roles tied to it.

The organizers issued their apology saying they didn't think it would offend anyone.

“Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. [The opening ceremony] tried to celebrate community tolerance. We believe this ambition was achieved. If people have taken any offence we are really sorry.” they wrote on Instagram.

"The apology is hard to believe considering the self described obese “Jewish, queer, lesbian” who played Jesus, labeled the performance the “New Gay Testament.”

"They’re only sorry now that millions have rebuked their actions. Nothing will stop the rapid descent of their viewer count," a netizen wrote on X.

Collin Rugg@CollinRugg1. I don't think they are actually sorry. 2. I don't think ratings will plummet that much. We will see.

Jessica @MamaCl0ud·4hThey gave a half assed apology in attempts to smooth this over. We will not forget or forgive.

Sean Gatton@SeanGattonMore than just sponsors pulling out and viewership, they just caused a massive backlash in America, and if people don't think this influences our elections, you're sorely mistaken. I know many gay men and lesbian women who are as equally pissed about this as we are. They moved the needle too far like the T+ crowd did last year. It's not going to be a happy reaction they receive.
