Sauti Sol

This year, Sauti Sol announced that they were taking a break and concentrating on their solo careers.

Speaking to 'IMO Podcast' Bien revealed that they all attended therapy sessions for two years before they split, after 18 years of being together.

“We went for therapy for a long time, like two years, talking us through the moments of separation. People don’t expect boys to do that, but we did.”

He added "Being in a band is an incredible journey, but sometimes it’s also essential to recognize when it’s time to explore new horizons."

On why they made the decision to split, he said;

"We didn’t part ways because we overstayed, but rather, we sought a new job, new experiences, and new challenges. We reached a point where we wanted to venture into something different."

In a statement in May, Sauti Sol announced that they will be taking a break from group projects.

"While the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter, it also represents a new beginning for Sauti Sol. As close friends and business partners, the band members, Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, and Savara Mudigi, are eager to explore fresh creative avenues and embark on personal endeavours."

They added that their friendship and shared vision will continue to be the driving force behind their future projects.

 "Sauti Sol has been an incredible journey for us, both as musicians and friends."

"We are filled with gratitude for the love and support we have received throughout the years. While we take this hiatus to pursue our individual and collective passions, we remain committed to our friendship and our shared businesses. The bond between us is unbreakable, and we are excited for what the future holds," read the statement
