Award winning style blogger & influencer Nancie Mwai is a force to reckon with. She is one of the most beloved public figures in Kenya. Her Youtube channel is a perfect example of what I am talking about, as her adoring fans shower her with endless compliments because of her superb work.

The USIU alumni has had major highlights this year, including being featured on US women’s beauty publication Allure and having major brand endorsement deals. I caught up with the fashion icon in an exclusive interview and she shared a few tidbits that her fans did not know about her. The most striking thing was of course, how her pregnancy changed her life. Her daughter is now 3 yrs old.

Just this morning, she took to Instagram to share a photo of her mother-daughter moment, something she rarely does. It was just so cute.

Nancie is a woman of a few words, but her striking persona is something that makes her easily memorable. Did I mention that she has this unique, beautiful face that can make her a super model? Here’s our conversation:

Harun: You’ve been blogging for almost 8 years now. What do you think is the biggest highlight of your career?
Nancie: Getting pregnant, it changed my perspective on what I do and how I do it. I took a long break that made me find love in doing Youtube videos, sharing my love for fashion and makeup and connecting with people
H: Does your blogging pay the bills? Or is there anything else you do in the background, given the shaky creative economy in Kenya?
N: Yes it does pay the bills however the current shaky economy is affecting everyone.

H: What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed?
N: I do my night time skincare routine, I shower and pray.
H: You’re known for keeping your family off social media. In fact, many may mistake you for being single. How and why do you do that?
N: This this my job and I chose this life, I do enjoy it however my family did not choose this.
H: What’s your fitness regime like?
N: I workout 5 days a week however currently I’ve given it a break.
H: You’re known to be BFFs with Miss Mandii. What’s the coolest thing about your BFF?
N: She always knows the right thing to say, especially if I’m going through it.
