A passenger died on board a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Mombasa on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by Kenya Airways, the traveler had breathing problems before being pronounced deceased.

"Kenya Airways PLC (KQ) regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart for Mombasa at 1900hrs," the statement said in part. 

The airline made it clear that it was handling the matter at the airport. They continued by expressing their deepest condolences to the deceased passenger's loved ones.

The said passenger's identity has not yet been established.

“The JKIA health and security agencies are currently handling the issue.

"We convey our deepest condolence to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time," KQ said.
