Mashujaa Day, which replaced Kenyatta Day, is a Kenyan public holiday that honors all Kenyans who contributed to the struggle for Kenya's independence or positively continue to contribute to post-independence Kenya.
The celebration marks when the country attained independence from the British colonial masters.
This year's 59th Mashujaa Day celebrations, which are being held at Uhuru Gardens will be President William Ruto's first time preceding a national holiday in his capacity as the president of the Republic of Kenya and the Commander in chief of the armed forces.
