Ben Cyco and his wife Wanjiru Njiru, hosted celebrity couple Abel Mutua and Judy Nyawira on the latest episode of their Joy Ride podcast and boy did the couple have a lot to talk about.

Abel revealed that it took them over a decade to master financial literacy. Apparently handling money was something that he was really poor at, Judy didn't seem to mind this as she was equally as bad when it came to money matters.

"It didn't have friction in our marriage because we were both bad with money," Abel told the hosts of the Joy Ride podcast.

"We have fumbled with finances for a whole decade. Since we met in 2008, we got financial literacy in 2020. That's the first time my salary met with another salary we went through a short course with a chic called Val," the actor/director revealed.

The comedian highlighted that money was never an issue as he was making a lot of money back in the day following his recruitment in the famous Citizen TV show Tahidi High. Now keeping it, that was the real issue.

Abel disclosed they were never able to fully account for where the money would go.

"It's not that we even didn't have money, we used to make money..." started the father of one.

He went on to add, "We entered Citizen when I was 21 years old. The perks that came with just being on Tahidi High were big."

Their biggest flaw though? Wanting to take care of everyone and their needs, "One problem we had was the Messiah complex, where you feel like you want to save everyone."

Chirping in Judy added that it was only after they sought financial assistance from an expert that they were able to realign their financial goals together.

On top of that, two years ago they apparently used to handle their money individually and only sort out the bills that needed to be dealt with without necessarily having to create a joint account which wasn't a very bright idea.

"After 2020, we were very intentional with our money and started putting it together. The way we existed before, my money was mine and his money was his.

Ever since we started putting our money together things now started moving. We realized we actually make money," said Judy.

Abel and Judy are one of the longest-serving celebrity couples without drama in Kenya having been together since their campus days.
