The American actor Austin Butler has been nominated for his role as Elvis Presley in the musical film Biopic Elvis.

He has previously won a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA for this same role.

It was by chance that he was able to land the role in 2019 after the actor who was supposed to be cast for it did not show up.

Denzel Washington called the director of the film, Baz Luhrmann to advocate for Butler.

Baz was fascinated by how good Butler was.

"What he managed to do is not do an impersonation but to live Elvis, to the extent that he's humanized him," Luhrmann said.

In an interview, Butler revealed that his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens is one of the people who encouraged him to take up the role among his other friends.

In another interview done by Janelle Monae, he opened up about the things he went through while preparing for the role.

He revealed that he did not get to see his family for three years when he was filming Biopic.

"I was off in New York preparing with Baz, and then I went to Australia. I had months where I wouldn't talk to anybody," he shared

When he finally got the chance to speak to his family, he could not shake off Elvis's voice, he was stuck in that character for a while.

Butler was so committed to learning Elvis' role, to being Elvis to the point that when the film was done he had lost his own identity.

His body finally caved in and this caused him to be rushed to the hospital.

"The next day I woke up at four in the morning with excruciating pain and I was rushed to the hospital. My body just started shutting down the day after I finished Elvis," he explained.

It is speculated that he has earned about $ 700k from the making of the film.

Do you think he deserves to win the best actor at the Oscars?
