Jeff Bezos splurges half a billion on the tallest yacht in the world

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos's new $500 million super yacht has finally arrived and the 59-year-old couldn't help but immediately take it out for a spin.

I mean he has been waiting for the luxurious half-a-billion-dollar yacht for years so it is only right.

The billionaire and his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez were seen lounging on the deck of the huge ship for the first time, tooling around Mallorca, Spain, and basking in the rays on the boat's sprawling deck.

The pair were just in Miami last weekend for the much anticipated F1 Grand Prix.

59-year-old Jeff, donned a pair of baby blue swim trunks and a cream zip-up jacket while 53-year-old Lauren busted out a pink bikini paired with a white cover-up for their maiden voyage.

Jeff and Lauren had the ship's captain sail around the island, stopping in a small bay. However, they didn't step foot off the "floating town" (because basically, that's what the ship is), but when one drops half a billion US dollars on a boat why would they want to step on land?

It is reported that the yacht was finally delivered this week after 5 years of lengthy delays. It has also been made public that Bezos has named his newest toy "Koru" which is a Maori term meaning new beginnings.

The 417-foot long, three-mast vessel, is believed to be the largest sailing yacht in the world. It came complete with a helipad and pool and can accommodate up to 18 guests comfortably.

Its construction stirred controversy when it nearly required a historic bridge in Rotterdam, Netherlands to be dismantled because the yacht's masts were too tall to pass under the bridge, despite its 131-foot clearance.

The 100-year-old Koningshaven historic bridge, known to locals as "De Hef," had been renovated in 2017, and the city had vowed not to take it apart again after that, according to Dutch broadcaster Rijnmond.
