Sixty-five victims who were rescued from the Shakahola Forest have been arraigned in court for attempting to kill themselves.
The victims are said to have allegedly attempted suicide by absconding meals while at Sajahanadi Rescue Centre in Mtwapa.
The prosecution has made an application to have them remanded in prison since the Rescue Centre can no longer hold them.
"It is in prison that they will undergo mental & medical assessment & be forced to eat," Prosecution said.
"They have now turned into suspects of attempted suicide."
The court is set to rule on the application on Thursday, June 15.
On Monday, the exhumation of bodies resumed after two days break.
The exhumation was conducted by a team of detectives from the Homicide unit, DCI, pathologists and government chemists among others seeking to ensure all those who were buried in the forest are exhumed.
Ten more bodies were dug out from shallow graves during the ongoing third phase bringing the number of exhumed bodies to 284.
The exhumation exercise will continue on Tuesday.
