A 15-year-old boy died after he slipped into an uncovered septic tank in Namanga, Kajiado.

The boy and his friend aged 17 were playing at an open field in Maili Tisa trading centre when they fell into the septic tank.

Witnesses rushed to their rescue and took them to hospital where the boy died while undergoing treatment.

Police were called to the scene and declared they had opened an investigation into the incident and that they would seek an explanation from the owner of the septic tank.

Witnesses said the tank was almost full of waste at the time of the tragedy.

The injured boy was still in hospital on Monday, police said.

The body of the boy was moved to the mortuary for autopsy and further processing.

Elsewhere in Emali, Makueni, the body of a man was found lying along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway near the Pipeline station.

Police said the body of an unknown male adult aged about 40 had no visible injuries at the time it was discovered.

Residents spotted the body and called the police who took it to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Police said this will form the basis of their probe into the death as they urged for patience in the investigation.
