Nigerian artist and record producer Azeez Adeshina Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley has distanced himself from claims he had anything to do with the late Mohbad's death.
Naira has been facing immense backlash from the court of public opinion for the past 2 weeks after his former signee Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, passed away.
In a video interview with Reno Omokri, Naira defended his innocence by highlighting he was not even in the country when Mohbad lost his life so he possibly could not have had a hand in the matter.
"Did you have any hand in the circumstances that led to the death of the man known as Mohbad?" Reno blatantly asked.
"No, definitely no," said Naira firmly.
Elaborating on his response the record producer detailed how he has been away from the country with his family.
"I haven't been in Nigeria since the 1st of August, I have been with my family. He left Marlian Music in 2022 and we have not stopped him from dropping music or anything.
He was working ever since. So even I when I heard about his death I was so shocked," Naira told Reno candidly.
He went on to add he was also eager just like everyone else to find out what had happened to his former signee.
"I am seeing all the lies online and we have to focus on the facts like who was he with and where was he lastly? How did he die? If you are blaming me, how did I kill him? I had nothing to do with his death whatsoever."
The artist finished the video interview by noting that the only way he would return back to his home country is if the police could 100% guarantee his safety.
"If they can guarantee my safety then I will be.... there are a lot of angry people who don't really want to know the truth because they have been poisoned by the media," the music producer said.
In an official statement shared on his Instagram page, the entertainer maintained he never fought or harassed Mohbad during his time at the label or even after.
Marley also stressed that he never sent any person to bully or inflict any harm on the deceased, while he was alive.
