Nigerian artist, Lola sets new world record for longest time spent painting

Lola who announced 4 days ago that she would be attempting to set a new record for the longest painting marathon, which stands at 60 hours, has has reached 82 hours.

Nigerian multi disciplinary artist Lola Mewu as per her team has just set a new Guinness World Record for the longest time painting!

Yes painting... like with a brush and on a blank canvas.

Lola who announced 4 days ago that she would be attempting to set a new record for the longest painting marathon, which stands at 60 hours, has has reached 82 hours.

 

Lola who also goes by Oyinola has been attempting to break the current world record since Saturday, October 28, 2023, and has surpassed the current record set by Roland Palmerts of France back in 2013.

After receiving approval from the international body, her attempt was scheduled to run until October 30, but she continued to persevere till the 1st November.

On the eve of 31st October Lola had well over 20 paintings fully executed including many that feature nostalgic childhood scenes, and her team had already begun to sell her artworks in an online auction, as directed by the Guinness World Book of Records.

 

Sharing on her painting marathon page Lola's team released a statement noting;

"At exactly 4:30 am on November 1 2023, Lola Mewu dropped her painting brush after reaching the 82 hour mark in the Guinness World Records longest painting hours record attempt.

She could not have done this alone, big thank you to everyone who assisted, supported, sponsored and encouraged her through this tough journey of exceeding limits," the Instagram caption read.
