With effect from November 20, 2023, the Chinese Embassy has stopped scheduling visa appointments for Kenyans.

The embassy said in a statement on Monday that the change will make it easier for citizens to visit the dominant East Asian economy.

"In order to further facilitate the exchange of China and Kenya, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya will completely cancel visa appointments from November 20, 2023," read part of the statement.

Furthermore, the embassy advised Kenyans who wanted to apply for a Chinese visa to send their documents straight to the Nairobi Visa Application Service Centre.

All applications, though, ought to be completed during business hours.

The Embassy further stated that neither the processing time nor the costs will change.
