Businessman and investor Elon Reeve Musk has disclosed that the first human Neuralink brain chip can now control a computer mouse around the screen using their thoughts.
This follows after the implantation was done last month to the patient by the neurotech startup.
Elon shared on his X Spaces event, that they've recovered well and the progress on what they set out to achieve is good.
He added the patient has no ill effects that the company is aware of.
The brain chip is called Telepathy which is Neuralink's first product, as previously explained by the tech billionaire, "It enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any by thinking."
The gadget consists of an electrode with more than 1,000 flexible conductors which can be imprinted into people's cerebral cortexes via a surgical robot.
Electrodes are conductors through which electricity enters or leaves an object, substance, or region.
They are programmed to register thoughts related to motion in the mind-blowing technology and it seems they're doing a good job so far.
The company gained approval for its first human trial from the Food and Drug Administration in May 2023.
They wanted to enlist people aged 22 and above who are living with quadriplegia due to a spinal cord injury or ASL, the disease that takes away the person's ability to control their body.
Their first human trial after the approval involved a person who lost the use of his limbs.
