At 67 years old, Jenifer Lewis, renowned for her role in the comedy series Black-ish, has opened up about her 3m (10ft) fall in November 2022 from a hotel balcony in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park.

Reflecting on the incident in an interview with the US-based website TMZ, she recounted how her room had a dimly lit balcony, and as she stepped out onto the deck by the infinity pool, she tragically fell, injuring her right hip and shoulder.

Following the fall, she was airlifted to a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where she received treatment.

In a heartfelt video interview, Lewis expressed her gratitude towards the staff at Aga Khan University Hospital, acknowledging their care and compassion during her recovery.

"They picked me up like I was a baby. They braided my hair. They gave me an extra piece of chicken," she emotionally shared.

The actress revealed that she chose to keep her fall private until now, primarily focusing on her recovery.

“I didn't want y'all to know I had fallen until I could show you how I got back up,” she explained, emphasising her determination to overcome the challenges she faced.
