Arrested by police in connection to the death of a senior police officer

Last weekend, DJ Joe Mfalme and his team, along with three police officers, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a senior police inspector in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

It is reported that Mfalme had a quarrel with the police officer a week ago in the early morning as he was leaving work at a club in Kikuyu town.

The officer allegedly scratched Mfalme's car from behind before the altercation ensued.

A day after being arrested, Joe broke his silence through a statement on his social media pages.

In his Sunday evening statement, the DJ said that he and his team have been cooperating well with investigators since the incident occurred on March 16, 2024.

"First and foremost, we extend our condolences to the family, friends, and all affected by this unfortunate incident," DJ Joe Mfalme said in his statement.

He added, "DJ Joe Mfalme and his team have been closely cooperating with the investigative authorities since the occurrence of the incident. DJ Joe Mfalme and his team are fully committed to participating in the investigative process and will continue to provide their cooperation as needed."

Mfalme and his associates are expected to appear in court this morning, Monday, March 25.

Online ridicule for a controversial response to a sweet message from his wife.

In December 2022, DJ Joe Mfalme once again made tabloid headlines following a response he gave to a message full of affection from his wife.

His wife sent him a heartfelt message wishing him a happy birthday, but the response he gave left many laughing.

"I am so blessed to be able to call you mine. I love you sincerely. You are the best in this world. It's true. I can't imagine my life without you. Happy Birthday @djjoemfalme! Let's make every day beautiful, and may Psalms 91:11 be your portion; 'For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.'"

To this, DJ Joe Mfalme responded: "πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯Thank you, mresh."

However, in an interview with an online news outlet, Mfalme defended his response, saying he saw no harm in calling his partner "mresh."

Mfalme stated that he and his wife are not accustomed to airing their marital affairs on social media, and even though he knew that in his response, many would feel that he didn't love her, that's just how it is; their marital matters have always been private.

Fired from radio for remarks about a woman in peril In March 2021

Mfalme and two of his colleagues were fired from a radio station in the country after allegedly making joking remarks about reports of a woman in danger of falling.

Mfalme had only been three months into his new morning show on radio, along with his two colleagues, when they were fired in March following comments about a 20-year-old woman who was reported to have been thrown from the 12th floor of a building by a man after allegedly rejecting his sexual advances.

A few days after the incident, Mfalme issued an apology statement, saying that he realized that mocking someone in danger was entirely wrong.

"I acknowledge that my statements and contribution regarding the unfortunate incident involving Eunice were completely wrong and could be interpreted by some people as encouraging, especially at a time when we should be staunchly opposing any form of Gender-Based Violence against women," part of his apology read.

In another interview with Sunday Nation a year later after being fired, Joe said that what he learned is not to rush into things and instead he would turn a blind eye so as not to end up in a similar situation.

"I won't try to be a hero again. No matter how bad a situation I see turning, I will always turn a blind eye," Mfalme told Sunday Nation in March 2022.
