Guests at a special reunion episode of the iconic Crossfire Podcast have called on President William Ruto to address issues raised by Gen Zs to resolve the country’s current crisis.

Former minister Mukhisa Kituyi criticized President Ruto for not practicing what he preaches.

“We are dealing with a dual-faced President. The President we have now is not the same person we saw during his swearing-in ceremony,” Kituyi stated.

He expressed disappointment over the President's remarks in Bomet on Sunday, emphasizing that Ruto should understand the country is larger than the executive.

“When he says the country is more important than any of us, he should remember that the country is also more important than Ruto,” Kituyi explained.

Lawyer Judy Thongori stressed that the President needs to listen to the concerns of Gen Zs.

“He is resisting change. You don’t need a sponsor to tell you there’s no food on the table. He is blaming sponsors. The President is disconnected from the people,” she said.

Thongori argued that Kenya does not need dialogue or talks to address these concerns.

Mathare Social Justice Centre activist and scholar Wanjira Wanjiru added that the anarchists Ruto refers to are not the protesters.

“People have been paid to cause destruction,” she said.

Wanjiru asserted that Gen Zs will continue to protest until there is good governance in the country.

“We will protest every Tuesday and Thursday if that is what it takes to bring the change we want,” she added.
