The CEO of the tour company Bonfire Adventures, Simon Kabu, has revealed that he started receiving payments for his content on Facebook in April this year.

Kabu disclosed this a few hours after Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced the launch of a feature that allows Kenyans to earn money from their content on the world's largest social media platform.

Kabu confirmed that he began receiving payments in April, sharing a screenshot as proof of a payment where he received $3.88 at the end of May.

"Have you started earning from Facebook? Imagine they started paying me from April 2024. Follow me," Kabu wrote on his Facebook page.

Meta announced on Tuesday that Facebook users in Kenya would start getting paid for original video content posted as reels in Swahili and other languages.

Kenya has become the fourth country in Africa where Facebook users are paid for their content.

Other countries where Facebook users receive payments include South Africa, Egypt, and Nigeria.
