Julia ‘Jules’ Gaitho, the founder of the once-popular YouTube channel Over 25, has finally shared the reasons behind the channel's closure.

The channel, which had amassed 157,000 subscribers over seven years, was abruptly shut down in May 2023, leaving fans disappointed.

Over 25, which featured content creators Ivy, Lornzie, and Shikie, was known for its engaging content, but behind the scenes, challenges were brewing.

In a recent interview on her YouTube channel, Jules explained that miscommunication and the difficulties of mixing friendship with business ultimately led to the channel's downfall.

“When you work with friends, conflicts are inevitable, whether it's differences in opinions or approaches,” Jules said.

“I wish I had been better at communicating my boundaries and resolving conflicts. At the time, I lacked the skills to address issues directly, so I would often avoid them, but that only made things worse in the long run.”

Jules also revealed that the absence of a formal contract among the group contributed to their problems.

"We should have had a contract from the start, outlining everyone’s roles and responsibilities.

This would have included details on finances, client relations, and decision-making.

Without it, we often clashed, especially when I tended to give too much in negotiations.

If we had clear roles, like who was the Creative Director, who handled finances, and who managed business development, things might have been different—but we simply didn’t know.”

For Jules, the key issue was the challenge of blending friendship with business. "We knew how to be friends, but we didn’t know how to work together," she concluded.
