Attacking midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has returned to Manchester City after playing for FC Barcelona in Spain's top league, La Liga.

Gündogan previously played for Man City and helped the team secure major titles in both the Premier League and in Europe.

Man City coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he has accepted Gündogan's request to return to the club until 2025, with discussions for an additional season being open.

Gündogan left Barcelona as a free agent.

During his time at Barcelona, the player scored five goals, ranking him as the seventh-highest scorer in the club.

Gündogan is expected to help the eight-time Premier League champions defend their title this season after their strong start with a 2-0 away win against Chelsea.

Additionally, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola is pleased with Gündogan's decision to return to the team and is ready to include him in the next match against Ipswich Town, a club recently promoted to the Premier League.
