Last weekend, Lulu Hassan and her husband Rashid Abdalla captivated their audience with a spirited conversation during their relationship show, Bi Mswafari.

The discussion focused on how some women mistreat their in-laws after marriage.

Lulu voiced her perspective, stating, “Siku zote huwa tunasema wanaume ni viumbe dhaifu sana. Wanaweza danganyika haraka sana” (We often say that men are very weak beings and can be easily deceived). Rashid quickly countered, “Mwanamke hawezi danganyika?” (A woman cannot be deceived?).

The dialogue intensified as Lulu responded assertively, “Siwezi danganyika kama nina watoto. Watoto wangu will always come first” (I cannot be deceived if I have children. My children will always come first). She emphasized the crucial role of women in supporting their families, saying, “Wanume ni vichwa lakini vichwa vidhaifu. Sisi ndio shingo na ikitoka kichwa kinaanguka” (Men are the heads, but they are weak heads. We are the neck, and if it gets weak, the head will fall).

Rashid, with a touch of humour, replied, “Na umekubali kuishi na kichwa dhaifu miaka hiyo yote?” (And you've agreed to live with a weak head all these years?).

The couple's playful exchange quickly garnered attention from viewers, sparking numerous online comments. Reactions included:

The debate was inspired by a comment from Bi Mswafari, who advised women to treat their in-laws well, stating, “Kama huwaangalii wazazi wake vizuri huyu bwana atakudhamini vipi? Kesho kama hayuko duniani utawaangalia wale wazazi?” (If you don’t take good care of his parents, how will this man trust you? Tomorrow, if he is no longer here, will you take care of his parents?).
