Peter Morgan, the lead singer of Grammy award winning Reggae band Morgan Heritage died on Sunday 25th February 2024.

In a statement, his family said;

“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today," read part of the statement

The family went on to ask for privacy during this time.

“Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing.”

Peetah was born in July 11th 1977 in Brooklyn , New York before the family moved back to Jamaica. 

He was fathered by legendary Jamaican Reggae singer Denroy Morgan who died in March 2022 following a long battle with cancer.

Peetah was among 30 children born by Denroy. 

He and seven of his sibllings formed Morgan Heritage in 1994 but two of his siblings left the group after a while.

Peetah and his siblings are three times Grammy winning artistes but he is best known for hits like 'Don't Haffi Dread To Be Rasta' 'Down By The River' ' She's Still Loving Me' among others.

Peetah died aged 46.
