David Wanjiru, alias Bire, is one of Kenya’s leading vocalists and script writer working under ‘Pitson Pen And Paper’ company.

Bire, who is now ruling the airwaves with the song Nifunze, has been the brains behind some of the best gospel hit songs in town.

“I have contributed to writing a lot of songs,” he said. “Pale by Size 8, Vanity by Daddy Owen, Afadhali Yesu by Size 8, Shule Yako by Mercy Masika. Those are the songs I can remember. Every year we write almost a hundred songs. Right now we are around 80. Pitson is the CEO of the company.”

He went on to describe how it is like working with the legendary Pitson.

“Pitson is a perfectionist. He is the best person I’ve ever worked with. He took me from 2013 and mentored me and now we are working together. He is wise.”

Bire and his friends did a cover to Mr. Vee and the late Kaberere’s song Just A Way, and had this to say about the hero.

“I had met Kaberere, but we hadn’t talked. He was one of the people who fought for the new regime we have in gospel music. He had music that was ageless.”

He is now working on a project called Child Enlightenment Foundation, a project that seeks to empower the youth.
