Iftar (break of a fast), is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. They break their fast at the time of the call to prayer for the evening prayer.
Harmonize recently hosted Iftar at Serena Hotel, Dar es Salaam and it was quite the star-studded affair:
And this gig, Harmonize has caught a lot of flack. You see, Iftar is usually celebrated by friends and family but you can open it up for the less fortunate who might not have anything with which to break their fast. And Mwana Fa realizing this spoke on the matter, castigating Harmonize. He said,
Kuna watu wana shida kweli, wanahitaji hizi ftari tunazoalikana kama mtindo tu... tuangalie kwa namna lingine lisije likapoteza maana na tukazikosa faida zake... Mungu atuhurumie sote
And he wasn't alone in his sentiments. A guy by the name of Roma went in! He was alot less diplomatic and he was more concerned with the burn mark his comments would leave:
Inashangaza unaalika watu ftari hatahawukunga, unawaalika sababu tu unajua wana followers so wakipost watu wataona. Alika maskini/ wasiojiweza/ wenyeuhitaji watashukuru na kukuombea dua! Sisi ukitualika tunakuja tunapiga selfie tunasepa! Hata asante yetu sio ya dhati!
Damn! Talk about having a lot of bile to get off one's chest. The way I see it, at the end of the day, the day ends.
