Kevin Hart was at the feet of one of his major life goals, as he was set to host 2019 Oscar Awards.

However, on Twitter early Friday morning he announced that he was stepping down from hosting this year’s Oscars ceremony.

This followed after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences asked him to apologize for a number of his old tweets that used homophobic language, which he initially refused to do in two Instagram videos.

However, he seems to have given in to the pressure and went ahead to step down;

“I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s,”

Hart tweeted.

“This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”
