Babu Owino has been a famous name from his early days in primary school to this day as a Member of Parliament.

In as much as he likes to make it known that he is a very smart man, there is little information out there on his early life.

Speaking to Jalang'o he gave a brief on who Babu Owino really is. From his days of selling illicit brews to his life now as an MP.

"I am a Kenyan citizen born and bred in Nyalenda Slums. Did my primary in central Primary school in Kisumu cleared class 8 in 2001 and got 403 out of 500 marks then joined Kisumu Boys from 2002-2005 got an A- of 78 points. I would have gotten an A but I was doing business of selling changaa and schooling to raise money for school fees because my mother was ailing from time to time and you close the business at 3 am and then I start reading and wake up to go to school and then go get stock for the next day.

I always wanted to do a law degree. I was called to Egerton University to study Business Management but I said this is not my calling. So I decided to comes to Nairobi for the first time in 2007. I applied for a scholarship that was advertised in a newspaper. I was called to Millenium University and did form 5 and 6 and 2007-2008 I scored a distinction. From 2008 October I joined Nairobi Of University to September 2012 to pursue Actuarial Science. I graduated first class hours. I became SONU chairman in 2011/2012." Babu Owino shared

Jalang'o was surprised that he managed to complete his degree in just four years contrary to other students who take more time because of the many strikes at UON.

"There were strikes that were manageable but not a long time so it did not affect the syllabus." Babu answered

He continued explaining how he got into the Kenyan Government.

Then I contested for MP in Westlands in 2013 using ODM as a vehicle but I did not get passed Nomination. So the same year I enrolled for my masters in Actuarial Science to 1014. Then 2014 I joined law school, the University of Law to pursue a degree and cleared in 2017. I was chairman all through.

I deferred for one year because I was campaigning for Embakasi MP and when I was elected I went back to school but gave up my seat as SONU Chairman.

I have Six Diplomas and two Master Degrees and two undergraduate degrees.

It is no secret he is a very smart man. A few days ago, he went live on social media to teach children - who have been forced to stay home because of Coronavirus pandemic - mathematics.

If you tuned in, you will agree with me, he is a very smart man.
