Jennifer Lopez has admitted she doesn’t think she would have had a ‘successful relationship’ with her partner Alex Rodriguez if they had met earlier in life.
The singing sensation, 49, has been dating the former New York Yankees baseball star, 43-year-old A-Rod, since February 2017.
And while the couple were recently spotted house hunting, J-Lo has reportedly revealed she has doubts their partnership would’ve lasted if they had got together any earlier.
Speaking to magazine, Jennifer said: ‘[Alex] has said it was too crazy, and I didn’t know him back then, so I am going to take his word for it.
‘And I needed to bounce around a little bit and figure myself out. I wasn’t ready for the healthiest things, because I needed to figure out how to be healthy first - how to have self-worth, value, deal with my insecurities.’
The interview comes ahead of the actress’ nationwide release of her new film Second Act.
In the romantic comedy, Jennifer plays a dedicated supermarket employee, Maya, who lands a prestigious job after her godson submits a fake resume on her behalf.
Her character often bemoans that society is unfairly skewed in favour of those who are ‘book-smart’ and not ‘street-smart’.
And J-Lo happens to agree, telling the publication that it is often the educated elite getting the breaks, while most people, men and women, are left out, like Maya.
She added how Alex, having watched the film, loved that element being explored the most.
