Jowie Irungu appeared in court looking gaunt -perhaps a reminder for one such as myself on why it probably isn't a good thing to do get involved in anything that could result in you being a guest of the state.

He was dressed in a dapper suit and had shaved his mangy beard which only served to highlight the stark changes in weight.

You will remember that Jowie Irungu is in court, charged with the grisly murder of Monica Kimani, a businesswoman who was found deceased in the bathtub of her Kilimani apartment.

Jowie Irungu was a person of interest as was his then fiance Jacque Maribe who was dragged into the fray after rushing him to hospital with a gunshot wound.

He was back in court yesterday requesting for the court to grant him bail arguing that he posed no threat of any nature to ongoing investigations.

Justice James Wakiagi said he would make a ruling on the bail application on June 18, 2019.

That means that Jowie Irungu would have spent 10 months in the slammer that is Industrial Area Remand Prison by the time his bail application will be up for adjudication.

He was first taken there in September 2019.
