In a letter penned to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Jacque Maribe's incarcerated fiance, Jowie Irungu accuses the Justice James Wakiaga of robbing him of his innocence by describing him as a “woman eater”.
"By describing me as a woman-eater, the judge abused his position and compounded the female gender to be nothing less than items to be eaten which is quite foul, degrading coming from a sitting judge.”

Anyhow, in his defense, Jowie, in the letter also claims the judge, in his ruling, alluded to the innocence of Jacque Maribe.
Justice Wakiaga used the biblical Adam and Eve story to which Jowie claims in the letter concluded he was guilty as charged, hence denying him a fair trial.
In his bail ruling, Justice Wakiaga pointed out that Jacque's mistake was, falling in love.
"The 2nd accused [Jacque] on the other hand is so sure of her innocence that she might only be convicted of the offense of being in love which is not a known offense under our law though I take cognizance of the fact that love can make you do some very strange things."
He added "As I am told that in the bible one Adam knowing very well the law of God and the punishment for eating the forbidden fruit, for the love of his wife Adam went ahead and ate the same so that they can die together if they must. I find that her belief in her innocence will not allow her to interfere with the court process.
In the letter, Jowie highlighted, "The judge has already taken away my right of innocence until proven guilty, stripped me of my dignity, respect and my right to societal standing."
He added, "In the words of the judge, I am a hopeless person who depends on women for sex and kill them if I must. In his mind, the judge is already convinced, believes and has pre-empted my guilt, awaiting conviction and sentence."
