After more than two years of marriage, Usher and his wife Grace Miguel have announced they are splitting.

'After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,' the couple said in a joint statement for Us Weekly.

'We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.'

The couple have already been separated for several months, a source told the website.

Usher and Grace married in September 2015 in Cuba following an eight month engagement and six years of dating.

It was Usher's second marriage, following his union with ex-wife Tameka Foster.

The R&B star and Tameka have sons Usher Raymond V, 10, and Naviyd Ely, nine, together.

Grace, meanwhile, also has daughter Leaf and son Raiden from a previous relationship.

The split follows a difficult year for Usher, who has been faced with multiple lawsuits, which claim he passed on or exposed herpes to multiple people

But in November it emerged a Georgia woman who had accused Usher of exposing her to herpes had dropped her $20 million lawsuit against him.

TMZ reported that Laura Helm was recorded telling someone on a phone call, two days before filing the suit, that she had only ever had safe sex with the Burn singer.

Helm's lawyer withdrew from the case and a new attorney she hired had the lawsuit immediately dismissed without prejudice 'with intent to refile.'

The woman had initially claimed in court docs that they hadn't used any protection in their tryst, and that she'd caught herpes from Usher.

Another woman suing the Love in This Club singer, named Quantasia Sharpton, is represented by high-profile lawyer Lisa Bloom.

Sharpton claimed that while she didn't contract herpes from Usher, he exposed her to it.

In September, the outlet reported that a man who's suing the entertainer said that he and the Yeah! singer had sex at a spa in downtown Los Angeles, exposing him to herpes.

Usher, through his legal team, has denied all of the accusations against him, saying that he never had sex with any of his accusers.

The singer's camp added that Usher's accusers have not been above board in their dealings in relation to the suit, the outlet reported.

His lawyers noted that even if he had engaged in the activities he was accused of, he did so without the knowledge that he had a transmittable disease.
