We voluntarily yawn that is on purpose but again sometimes we involuntarily yawn which is not on purpose. This happens majorly when we try to yawn and equalize the pressure in our ears as well as balance it. This works and is an accepted reason for yawning.

It is theorized that yawning is not a sign of  sleepiness or boredom, but actually a reflex that your brain induces to wake you up or make you more active. Yawning is associated with some hormones that are released that briefly increase the heart rate and alertness, So actually the reason that one yawns when bored or tired is the body's attempt to keep you alert  and awake- if only for a brief time.

In addition, Yawning  helps the process at which the brain maintains its temperature core. During yawning the facial muscles move and contract this therefore increases the blood flow to the face where heat can melt away more easily. Some peoples eyes tear up when they yawn which may also release heat. Likewise, taking a deep breath of fresh hair may help send a cooler blood to the brain.

Lastly, yawning stretches the muscles and joints, increases the heart rate, and may prepare the body  for an increased level of alertness ,especially after relaxation. This may be why pro athletes and musicians sometimes yawns to need a greater focus

Surprisingly, You probably know that observing someone yawn is contagious .Our brains do not care about structural correlation of another persons mouth-yawning unleashes yawning. Even if a blind person over hears  sigh-like sound of yawning is sufficient to trigger their own yawn.

It is weird that yawning cannot be suppressed by clenching the teeth, it becomes so horrible. Go ahead and test this .
