After years of legal disputes with Cash Money Records, Lil Wayne became a free man and was able to finally release his long-awaited album Tha Crater V in 2018. Fans were ecstatic. He's back into the music scene and it looks like he's back his ways by drooping another album set to release later on this year titled "Funeral." In the album, he recruits Lil Baby, BigSean and more.

In an interview with XXL magazine, he elaborates a little more on the album and the creative process behind it and he chose certain people to collaborate with.“I’m a big Lil Baby fan,” Wayne said. “So it was a swap type of thing. You send me a song, I send… that type of thing. But actually, he demanded that he work with me. That’s a new thing these days. Back in the days when I was doing it, there was no such thing as you send me your song. You had to be in the studio with that person. He demanded that. So I respected that."

“I loved his voice at first and it kinda reminded me of me when I was younger,” he said. “And then his melodies and stuff started getting at me. So that’s what it was. And then I started actually listening to what he’s saying and he talks about the struggle a lot and he’s talking about some real stuff.”

Wayne began Funeralback, years after he first announced the project on a skateboarding podcast in 2016. This comes as some pretty exciting news, especially after Weezy, walked off a stage during is a tour with American rock band Blink 182.

Prior to walking off stage, he spoke to the crowd about his grievances. "I just want the people to know if you were wondering, please forgive me but I am so not used to performing to a crowd and there's not too many ... that's not my swag." Thankfully for Weezy fans attending one of the shows he clarified he's not quitting the tour.
