In America, going to prison is a boon for a rapper's career.

There is a whole host of rappers who have had to spend time as guests of the state and when they came out they had solidified their street cred.

Rappers like Tupac, T.I.P and 2 Chainz are the few examples that come to mind and their careers really took off after they had enjoyed githeri courtesy of the federal or state prison systems in America.

In Kenya however, I doubt that is the case. Generally, because the rule of thumb is that Kenyan prisons are terrible!

And none other can attest to just how shite our prisons are than Majirani who acquiesced to granting us an interview.

Yep, Majirani used to be a mahabusu.

He even shared an interesting story of how in prison you aren't allowed to hunt the local fauna: the chawa are the property of the government of Kenya.

And do you know the reason why he ended up in jail?

Because he dropped out of school!

His father decided to teach him a lesson. Talk about tough love!

Boy am I glad my parents did not subscribe to this school of parenting!
