While Jennifer Lawrence made headlines by topping the list of the world's highest-paid actresses for a second year running - taking home $46million.
Melissa McCarthy notched up an impressive ranking, finishing just one place behind the Hunger Games star in Forbes magazine's annual list.
Having starred in the much debated Ghostbusters reboot, nabbed her first Golden Globe nomination and made a dent in the fashion industry, the 45-year-old saw her earnings shoot up to $33million.
Reported as earning $23million in 2015's list, the last year has seen McCarthy - both a favourite on TV and the big screen - up her earning's by an impressive amount.
Forbes reports: '[McCarthy] is this year's biggest dollar gainer year over year; her earnings are up $10million on 2015's estimate.'
And it seems that impressive bump, which helped to out-earn box office favourite Scarlett Johansen (third with $25 million), is down - in part - to her role in Ghostbusters.
Although derided by critics and fans alike after release, the actress is said to have banked an eight figure sum for the film which was initially tipped as a blockbuster.
