Miss World Kenya, Idah Nguma has put Kenya on top of the world beauty map, after she made it to the top 10 finalist in the just concluded Miss World beauty pageant in London.
The 21 year-old former Miss Machakos County beat other contestants to make it to top five in the Beach Fashion category and top ten in the Beauty with a Purpose competition before finding her place among the top ten finalists.
She had partnered with international charity Smile Train in her goal to have every baby born with a cleft in rural Kenya treated for free, a project that has made her popular and touched many.
This is by far the best performance by a Miss Kenya in years. Meanwhile, the winner of the Miss World 2014 crown is a 22-year-old South African woman, Rolene Strauss. Hungary’s Edina Kulcsár came second and Elizabeth Safrit, of United States, came third.
Congratulations to the beautiful Idah, for tremendous performance, and we wish her the best as she comes back and embarks on her Miss World Kenya duties.
