Singer Rosa was in studio with Adelle and Shaffie to drop her new song 'Rise', as well as letting us in on a few secrets. Read through the Q& A
When did her music journey begin?
I think it was like six years ago. but funny enough it is just last year that I actually started going out there alot. Even my performances, it's from last year that I've been performing alot. yeah..it's basically been six years.
Where did she start singing. Was it in church?
Let me tell you believe it or not that thing is true. You have to sing in church at some point but I used to sing in the choir at school of which that was like a mistake. What school did she attend?'Clears throat* state House Girls but I eventually transferred I don't wanna say the second one., but I went to Loreto Valley Road. Everyone thinks it's so......
How did she end up in the choir?
We used to go for funkies alot I just wanted to go for funkies, so this girl like fourth formers they were like just join a club, so i went to the choir and i was like honestly I can't sing BUt i need to go somewhere. Funny enough i sang like my favorite song at that time and they were like yoh, you can actually sing So i actually ended up having a permanent job in that choir. But it became too much coz I used to go for funkies all the time, it was a problem. My mum was like No..no.
One of the things is people talking about your performance with Nasty C, Kaya festival. She was covered up on stage with trenchcoat and suddenly she removed it.
You know how I prepared for that outfit, and I did a turn where I drop the trench coat I practiced that turn in my mirro and so when I took the trench coat down I couldn't see the crowd people were either goign to scream or go like ewww.. it was my biggest performance, and on Twitter I gained followers, and there was this one guy who put up the video and so people started retweeting, and it was so weird.
I was basically trying people to understand my performance, coz most people are just used to female artiste showing up on stage with backup, and do your high notes, I just needed something special.
The first time she shocked Shaffie was when she was on the cover of Pulse magazine, The Raverend explains how he failed team mafisi after trying to hook up with her
SHAFFIE..So I took the picture and put it on my story, guess who slide into my DM? (Pointing at Rosa) to say thank you and that's how you start the conversation and then going forward we've been chatting BTU the conversation stopped when I asked for her number
Is there a collabo with Mr Eazi in the works? When he was in Kenya three months ago, and on Twitter he was looking for a female vocalist, so what happened?
Rosa explains
'So one person actually wrote my name and weirdest thing I'm rarely on Twitter, but on this specific day I just logged on and my friend Frankie had written my name and so people retweeting. and he basically did like a vote. It happened so fast like in an hour, he tweeted me and sent me a DM, and was like we're gonna do something. So he wss like if we're gonna do something be here in an hour. He didn't tell me where, how, and I couldn't ask
I finally got to meet up with him. I was so nervous I can't even lie to you as much as I do wanna meet stars and like work with them I'm like a kid when I meet these people.
And so I met him and he was like 'what do you wanna do?
I was like first of all Mr Eazi I don't what to tell you I have dreamt about this for the last two years and he was so ready to work. He was like okay let's start. He was there with his producer so yeah we did something, we recorded.
So when is that track going to be released? Is it his or hers?
'It's mine. It will be up soon.
Was there talk of recording more? after they were done with the first collabo?
No, he was actually teaching me The weirdest thing is that when he called me to do the song he told me that he watched the song 'Inside' , so he gave me ideas so he said 'we can do this track and then see where that goes, so basically it was a learning process. I'm pretty sure I will meet him again.
