A series of photos showing men dressed in Kenyan NYS uniform parading a monkey and later roasting it have emerged.

The men, are seen preparing the game meat for a feast. It is not clear where and when this happened.

The consumption of monkey meat may be detrimental to one's health. An August 1992 study published in the Journal of Tropical Medicine Hygiene reported nine cases of salmonellosis attributed to monkey meat consumption.

Specific types of Salmonella can result in typhoid fever or paratyphoid fever.

Scientists in Cameroon have warned that eating monkeys and apes could also cause the next HIV.

They are already tracking a HIV-like virus called simian foamy virus, and fear more viruses could spread and lead to a global health crisis.

80 per cent of the meat eaten in Cameroon is killed in the wild and is known as ‘bushmeat’, with gorilla, chimpanzee or monkey favourites.

Here are some reactions to the photos...

Fresiah Ng'endo:  Ni food hakuna ama Kwa raha zao.

Telford Aduda: According to former P's Omollo, each recruit should be eating 1 cow a day... 😀.

Titus Ombeta: Its for their fun not that they lack. Have your facts well.
