Kith Mong’are, 17, a KCSE candidate at Gesiaga Mixed Secondary School in West Mugirango Constituency in Nyamira died yesterday after sitting for his Mathematics paper One.

He had just finished the Mathematics Paper One when he collapsed.


He was rushed to Kinara Maternity and Nursing Home where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was taken to Kinara mortuary, awaiting post-mortem to establish the exact cause of death.

His father Joshua Mong’are, who had accompanied his son to school, said Kith had a heart disease and was being treated at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.

Mr Mong’are narrated the sad ordeal stating;

“I was hanging around the school compound waiting for him to complete the day’s papers when I heard other candidates wailing and crying after he collapsed.”

As the examinations are still ongoing, Fourteen people, among them KCSE exam officials, were on Monday arrested in Kisii county on charges of illegal possession of a Chemistry paper.
