In the death and funeral announcement, the family gave equal mention to both John De Mathew's wives, starting with his first wife Sabina Wairimu John followed by the second wife, Carolyne Waithera John.
This is a refreshing break from all the drama associated with the deaths of African and especially kenyan politicians and celebrities whose funerals are often mirred by family drama like what we saw play out at the late Ken Okoth's funeral.
It will be remembered that Governor Sonko made a bombshell of a revelation at the late Kibra MPs requiem mass, revealing that Ken Okoth had a son by a woman not recognized as his legal wife.
Not so with John De Mathew who was a strong man who was openly and honestly polygamous.
